EPRA Boundaries

Long before the settlers came, a big Wendat village stood atop the hill in Eglinton Park, and its wide cornfields ran down to the creek now buried by the children’s playground. Those Wendats, over the centuries, were far from the only ones to occupy this local land.

We acknowledge the land we are on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee as well as the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

This territory is covered by the Toronto Purchase (treaty 13) and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon treaty between the Anishnaabe, Mississaugas and the Haudenosaunee peoples. The Dish with One Spoon Treaty bound the nations to share and protect the land and has been symbolically extended to other Indigenous nations and peoples, Europeans, and all newcomers.
